Run! Or at least walk real fast! Here comes the Mummy--again!

Yes, THE MUMMY 3 with Brendan Fraser (but reportedly minus his onscreen wife Rachel Weisz or original director Stephen Sommers) is due to come shambling out of the tomb sometime in 2008. So I figure this is as good a time as any to take a look back at the classic original Universal Studios "Mummy" films that started it all back in the 30s and 40s. Let's see what we can dig up, shall we?

   Best and Worse 2006: Rufus

I hate the year end wrap up of reviews. I find myself reading all of my reviews over again trying to choose just one winner. Don't get me wrong now. I reread all of my reviews daily anyhow just because I am quite vain, but this year was a tough one for me. I wondered if the movies got better this year or did my standards became lower? Nah, I just think we had some real winners.

Again, choosing the best of the bunch was tough. Every time I looked through all my reviews, I would find one that could easily win. Taking another look, I would find another that could be in the top spot. While it was very hard to choose, I had to come down to a decision or feel the wrath of the deadline flogging. While movies like 2001 Maniacs, New Police Story, The Quick and the Undead and See No Evil were all strong contenders, the runner up for the best of the bunch is:
