DJs are all over. I just went to Fleamarket the other day, and there was a DJ there. (He tore up some Charlie Daniels band). While every where you turn there is a DJ mixing something, there are very few Superstar Djs. Bad Boy Bill is one of those Superstar DJs. The kind of DJ that you actually pay money to go see. (You know, like a concert.) This was my 3rd time seeing him, so I knew what to expect. Power house beats, and some old school break beats. He delivered these in great quantity. His mixing was flawless, and his beat choices kept the room up on it's toes.
Another great thing were the B-ballers. They danced all night, spinning on their head. It was a scene straight out of Electric Boogaloo.
The problem with seeing a DJ though, is always the venue that it is at. I guess this really could be said about any concert really. The difference is, at rave concerts sometimes the DJ is not the center point. Alot goes on in the crowd while dancing to house. Good and bad. I'm no longer single, so I can only remember the good in my dreams.
Bad Boy Bill's concert was at a place called Global, which is inside the greater building of Long Street Live. I really am not a fan of this place. To those Bums outside of the Columbus area, let me explain what this is. Long Street Live is a large club, broken up into genre. In one room there is hip-hop, in another there is club music, and hell maybe in another there is polka. You get my point. I am not a fan of this because I do not like my Hank Williams mixing in with my Snoop Dog. I look at this place like I do my dinner plate. I do not like my peas mixing with my applesauce. That is just me. In this occasion so many people merged together in the room, that it no longer became a "concert". It became a stew. And since this past weekend was the Arnold Classic, it became a large sweaty stew of steriod induced, muscle wearing men. While this may have been just like George Michael's 21st birthday party, I was no fan. Soon I found myself side stepping just to get a drink. Five hours later, when I made it back to my spot on the dance floor 2 steps away, I found that I was in need of another drink. To the folks at global I would just like to say, if the place holds 700 people let's not see if you can fit another 400 just for shits and giggles.
Overall Bad Boy Bill was top notch as always. He is on his tour now folks, so if he is coming your way check him out. It is one hell of a show. I will go see him again when he comes back, as long as it is not at Global. To all the big ass guys that bumped into me, and I apologized because it must have been my fault for spilling my drink on me with your arm.... I take it back. I'm not sorry. Welcome to BumsTown Bitch!
