This movie is what I call a "jumper" because you spend a lot of time jumping around in your chair as you watch it. I would get settled in to the storyline and the beautiful serene landscape then all of the sudden a slight movement or a rushing image would jolt me back to remembering all the spookiness going on.
"Haunted Forest" is about this legend of a woman named "Satinka" who lures people into the woods and they are never seen again. A journalist was recently in the forest and suddenly disappeared provoking Sean and his two friends set off to try and find out what happened to him.
Sean's grandfather passed away and left him his journal with the myth documented within the drawings and scripture. The legend states that there was a burial ground under the tree that contains the evil spirit. This tree was among the drawings in the book and was really awkward and creepy looking.
"Haunted Forest" was like this dark brooding fairytale and even when things got a little cheesy I didn't really mind. Those parts were like if you were at home reading a book you could picture the scenario perfectly in your head but on film sometimes it's hard to create a convincing image for the audience.
Many of the films scarier moments have that "The Grudge" kind of feel but thankfully is nowhere near as boring or drawn out. I think this story is a great, very original urban legend that hasn't already been played out. I would really recommend this to anyone who enjoys supernatural thrillers or fantasy movies. 3 cans.
