My self-esteem has probably been at a personal best as of late. I'm a director at possibly the best college radio station in the country, my show Snob-Rock Live is on the rise, and I'm starting to do some TV work, then I met All Time Low. This is a band that pretty much just got out of high school and has already been signed to a label, went on Warp Tour, and oh yeah, recorded an awesome EP.

"Put Up or Shut Up" reminds me of everything I've loved about pop/punk growing up. It was always something great to listen to that just made you feel good. Sure, the lyrics meant something, but paying attention to them was just an added bonus and the bands realized that.

I can hear obvious influences from the same bands I listened to in high school, stuff like Blink 182, The Starting Line, and Slick Shoes. I'm not sure if they listened to all those bands, but it is definitely in the same vein as that style. And just like those bands, every song is not the same. The EP opens up with "Coffee Shop Soundtrack," a driving anthem to anticipation, with opening riffs that would make even the best garage band jealous. "The Party Scene" is an inspiring track about moving on. And they slow it down for "Lullabies," but not too much, the beat is still really moving. That's something cool about All Time Low, even their ballads get you moving.

"Put Up or Shut Up" is a great tread down memory lane for anyone from my generation that grew up on bands like Blink 182. Its cool to hear bands that are influenced by the bands I listened to growing up, or rather, I guess its cool to hear my generation make music. Because I want to give All Time Low some room to grow, I'm going to give "Put Up or Shut Up" 4 out of 5 cans.
